Teachers preferred a certain type of hair. Society celebrated a certain texture. And little by little, the message became clear: your natural hair is not enough.</p><p>So when I stepped into college and the workplace, I joined the bandwagon too. I hid my natural hair because I believed the lie that my short, coarse, kinky hair wasn't beautiful.</p><p>But the Holy Ghost began to deal with me.</p><p>Why are we hiding what God created?</p><p> Why are we covering the very crown Heaven gave us?</p><p> Why are we spending years trying to look accepted by a world that rejected the way God made us?</p><p>This is bigger than hair. This is identity. This is freedom. This is healing. This is unlearning generations of shame.</p><p>So this is my message to every Black woman: </p><p>You do not have to hide to be beautiful.</p><p> You do not have to straighten yourself to be accepted.</p><p> You do not have to wear another identity to feel worthy.</p><p>God did not make a mistake when He created you.</p><p>Your hair is not a burden. Your hair is not "less than."
